The Agony of Da Feet

Although the week presented some challenges for both me and Carol, things worked out fine.  The big disappointment was that because they had to put a pin in Carol's toe to stabilize it, the recovery time will be longer than we had hoped.  And Carol don't cotton to being housebound.  We still managed to have a very nice Thanksgiving dinner and get out a few times.  And we did quite a lot of video binge-watching without guilt.
The last few days were crammed with errands and visits to friends before I headed back down.  Having to get up much earlier than expected to make  my flight didn't help.  Despite the jet lag and lack of sleep, I've started on the list of chores to be done before I can start cruising again.  Ah, well.  Paradise ain't fer sissies!

Most of the week was shaped by Carol's recuperation from
her foot surgery.

But we still managed to have a lovely Thanksgiving dinner
thanks to Joan's catering.

Monday and Tuesday I made a quick drive up to Ventura
to see doctor and dentist, check on my car and visit friends.
My old marina is still the same, but...

...change is coming.  Construction of the new condo complex
right behind the marina is progressing steadily.  Once it's
occupied, things will be different.

group a year later!

Storage has taken its toll on the car:  torn cover, flat tire and
a dead battery.  It will take a couple of days to get it going
again when the time comes.

The return flight on Delta was much nicer than the trip up
on American.  However, I could not check in online, so I had
to get to the airport 3 hours before flight time, which meant
getting up way too early.

It was good to get back aboard and find everything okay
on the boat.  (I had paid Israel to keep an eye on it.)
Within a few hours of my return, I was once again
struck by the friendliness, cheerfulness and generosity
of the local Mexicans.

The euphoria was short-lived, however, once
I figured out how much I have to do to be able
to leave by December 5, my target date for
meeting Curt and Mary on the 10th in Tenacatita.

In La La Land

Arrived in LA last Wednesday and suffered jet lag and culture shock for a few days.  Carol had her surgery on Friday, and was pretty much down for the first few days.  She's doing better now, and is hobbling about more.  Haven't done much other than look after her and hunt for parking spaces.
This week's LA pics are mostly black and white.

Carol's foot right after the surgery.  Only surprise:
they had to put in a pin to stabilize the toe for the
next six weeks.

The Last Detail

It's been a diverse week.  I went to the Madonnari Festival in Puerto Vallarta, which features chalk art on the sidewalks by both established artists and beginners.  It has been done for several years in partnership with Puerto Vallarta's U.S. sister city, Santa Barbara.
I also went to the weekly market in Lorenzo Cardenas Park.  Even bought an interesting glass mask from a nearby shop.
With the start of the new cruising season, cruisers are arriving and departing often.  Had to help one friend dispose of his leftover food and wine one evening.  No sacrifice is too great.  I spent one day back in La Cruz helping my friend Bob remount his cockpit table, and of course I had a few minor projects of my own, mostly annoying little details.   Yesterday I hopped on a plane to LA to look after Carol while she recovers from the foot surgery she's having tomorrow.  Now suffering from both jet lag and culture shock.

Interesting, but not my style

I did buy this mask for 300 pesos.

I liked the modern look, the iridescence, and...

...the way it changes in different light.
