It was busy and varied week.  After a rigorous paddle Saturday morning, I went to a christening/renaming ceremony at the yacht club, which was both fun and educational.  Turns out there are a lot of gods whose favor must be curried-especially the Norse ones when the boat is Swedish. I spent the rest of the weekend in LA with Carol.  Heard an astrophysicist explain pulsars in language that was understandable by anyone and got tour of an amazing shop where Carol's friend Bob has been building model railroad cars and steam locomotives for more than 40 years.
On Circadian, I had to deal with a very unpleasant leak from the holding tank and cope with lots of foggy days that made varnishing ill-advised.  Still managed to get some finish work done, though.  My canvas guy is supposed to come next Sunday to do some patterns, but the guy who was supposed to do the berth cushions failed to call as promised.  I'll have to start pestering him.   Wish me luck!

I was at a First Aid class the last two evenings, so I'm a day late in posting this week.  In addition, several days of rain or risk of rain jumbled my plans a bit.  I did manage to contact someone to make new berth cushions for the aft cabin, but they haven't come out to make patterns yet.  I was able to finish the hanging locker and make some progress on the last bits of trim needed, but the bulk of the work was sanding the remaining original woodwork on bulkheads etc.  While I only completed the first coarse (80 grit) sanding, that is the most labor-intensive as it takes a lot of sanding to remove stains and remnants of the old finish.  Hopefully I'll complete the sanding and get a couple of coats of the new finish applied next week....

I'm feeling like I'm on the home stretch with the aft cabin.  The inside of the hanging locker needs only the closet rod installed to be finished.  After that, a few pieces of trim here and there and the rest is refinishing existing woodwork.  The new oil lamps for the vanity finally arrived, and it was a treat to see them mounted.  As soon as I clear out the berths, I'll try to find someone to make cushions for them.
Spent the weekend in LA with Carol. We visited the Museum of Jurassic Technology.  Quite interesting, but you need to judge for yourself.
