It's a good week when I can say I've completed two projects!  The stern anchor system got the final touch with the addition of the stainless rubrail and I finished the watertight bulkhead in the aft lazarette and, in the process, added a step/bracket to keep the emergency tiller and connecting shaft at hand, rather than buried somewhere in the big lazarette.

My friend John and I went up to Santa Barbara early Saturday to catch the boaters' swapmeet and Carol met us there later that morning.  After a late breakfast, Carol and I visited the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden.  It was a delightful place to be on a cool foggy day.  This week's eye candy photos were all shot there.

I 'm expecting a visit from an old friend from high school this evening, so I thought I'd best get the blog out before he arrives.  Who knows what sort of mischief we might get into!

With no weekend visit from Carol, I sadly had no excuse not to do more work. Made good progress and did a Wet Wednesday race last night.  It was quite a bit windier than expected, with a nasty 5 foot chop, so I got pretty wet and pretty tired.  May brought lots of wild flowers both out in the empty lot nextdoor and on the beach sand dunes.

It was a busy week.  Carol came up briefly to successfully complete her Sailing and Seamanship Class, I worked on the stern anchor chain locker and a few other little projects, sailed a Wet Wednesday race and paddled myself to exhaustion.  Jim and Donna finished the cover for my kayak, which turned out great.  What a luxury to have someone else do the work!   A little clean-up after I post this blog, and I'll be taking it easy rather than padding tonight.  I'm just worn out and need some R & R to recover!
