For my last night in Los Angeles, I got a real treat:  Carol had a very generous gift certificate for one the most upscale restaurants in the city: Providence, and we went there for dinner on Friday.   The Zagat review sums up the experience pretty accurately...in all respects!

Fish lovers unite at Hollywood's divine New American seafood Mecca where "thrilling," "whimsical preparations" of fin fare "so fresh it practically swims" provide a "spectacular" "culinary adventure" from "magician" chef Michael Cimarusti; "outstanding tasting menus," "seamless," "refined service" and a "lovely," "understated" setting rounds out the "unforgettable" "experience," but at "big prices" that leave some joking just "bring the deed to your home."

Carol drove me back up to Ventura on Saturday, and by Sunday I was back at it, albeit a bit slower. It will be another six weeks before I'm fully back and able to do heavy lifting again. Right now, I still don't have all my energy back and my Circadian rhythm is all off! Nonetheless, with a bit more napping, I'm still making progress and managed to complete the new overhead in the aft cabin.

As a consequence of having to rest and recover after hernia surgery last Friday, I spent most of the week practicing  the art of indolence. As the week progressed, the indolence began to give way to cabin fever and I went out a bit; even managed to drive myself to Minney's and H & L!  I should be back on the boat, albeit moving a bit slower, by this weekend.

A big "Thank you!" to Carol for taking such good care of me all week! This week's flowers are from Carol's yard.

I worked hard this week to make as much progress as possible on the aft cabin overhead before I go in for hernia surgery tomorrow.  I will be staying with Carol next week while I recover, but hope to at least get out a blog update on my recovery by next Thursday.  If I'm up to it, I'll make a run to Minney's Yacht Surplus and H & L Marine Woodwork while I'm in the L.A. area.
