I'm feeling like I'm on the home stretch with the aft cabin.  The inside of the hanging locker needs only the closet rod installed to be finished.  After that, a few pieces of trim here and there and the rest is refinishing existing woodwork.  The new oil lamps for the vanity finally arrived, and it was a treat to see them mounted.  As soon as I clear out the berths, I'll try to find someone to make cushions for them.
Spent the weekend in LA with Carol. We visited the Museum of Jurassic Technology.  Quite interesting, but you need to judge for yourself.

With the aft head done, I turned my attention this week to the large hanging locker in the aft cabin.  I decided to line the bulkheads with aromatic cedar to fight mold, mildew and moths.  Although the job required a lot of tedious fitting and much "boat yoga," it went fine.  The next steps will be carpeting the floor and hull and then finishing the overhead with a white panel.
Over the weekend, Carol and I went on a hike seeking the legendary "punchbowl."  It turned out that we didn't go quite far enough (although it was plenty for us) to see the larger swimming hole and waterfall, but still had a good time.  Today's nature photos are from that walk.

With no visit with Carol last weekend, I had some more time for project work.  (No rest for the weary!)  But that was okay as I made great progress and arguably reached a milestone or two.  The aft cabin is looking very good and the aft head is essentially finished.  I even remounted the head door that I refinished almost exactly (OMG!) three years ago (see the February 13, 2010 blog).  I also resolved the irksome problem with the shower sump pump by reinstalling the original pump (after refinishing it with spray-on bedliner).   I'm now at Carol's for a Valentine's Day dinner.  Life is good!

Happy Valentine's Day all!
