The Agony of Da Feet

Although the week presented some challenges for both me and Carol, things worked out fine.  The big disappointment was that because they had to put a pin in Carol's toe to stabilize it, the recovery time will be longer than we had hoped.  And Carol don't cotton to being housebound.  We still managed to have a very nice Thanksgiving dinner and get out a few times.  And we did quite a lot of video binge-watching without guilt.
The last few days were crammed with errands and visits to friends before I headed back down.  Having to get up much earlier than expected to make  my flight didn't help.  Despite the jet lag and lack of sleep, I've started on the list of chores to be done before I can start cruising again.  Ah, well.  Paradise ain't fer sissies!

Most of the week was shaped by Carol's recuperation from
her foot surgery.

But we still managed to have a lovely Thanksgiving dinner
thanks to Joan's catering.

Monday and Tuesday I made a quick drive up to Ventura
to see doctor and dentist, check on my car and visit friends.
My old marina is still the same, but...

...change is coming.  Construction of the new condo complex
right behind the marina is progressing steadily.  Once it's
occupied, things will be different.

The bachelors' coffee klatch in the marina lounge.  Same
group a year later!

Storage has taken its toll on the car:  torn cover, flat tire and
a dead battery.  It will take a couple of days to get it going
again when the time comes.

The return flight on Delta was much nicer than the trip up
on American.  However, I could not check in online, so I had
to get to the airport 3 hours before flight time, which meant
getting up way too early.

It was good to get back aboard and find everything okay
on the boat.  (I had paid Israel to keep an eye on it.)
Within a few hours of my return, I was once again
struck by the friendliness, cheerfulness and generosity
of the local Mexicans.

The euphoria was short-lived, however, once
I figured out how much I have to do to be able
to leave by December 5, my target date for
meeting Curt and Mary on the 10th in Tenacatita.
